We are a research lab investigating major world transformations in labour and politics in the 21st century.

Our team produces cutting-edge research on economic precarity, platform labour, social movements, new technologies and the far right.

DeepLab is a global pioneer in the field of research on the current authoritarian turn in the Global South. We specialise in Brazil, India, and the Philippines but are not restricted to just these countries. The Lab has emerged from recognising the need to pursue fresher perspectives that counter the EU-US-centric analyses.

We welcome researchers studying any part of the world with a particular interest in comparative analysis.

We are an interdisciplinary hub of scholars, PhD students, postdocs, research fellows, and visiting researchers who use various methods from on-the-ground ethnographic fieldwork, digital ethnography, computational approaches, and other qualitative and quantitative tools. Our advisors are some of the most influential researchers in their respective fields globally.

We are particularly interested in welcoming researchers who work on the intersection between

01
The digital economy and platform labour
02
Economic precarity and social inequalities
03
The new middle classes
04
Authoritarinianism, populism, and the radical right
05
The nexus between neoliberalism and the far right
06
Hate speech against minorities
07
Resistance, transnational solidarity, and social movements in the 21st Century
08
